The Language Resource Center is happy to announce an upcoming symposium funded by a generous grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, which will be held April 14 - 15, 2017 at Columbia University.

The symposium, “Course Sharing for Sustainable Programs,” will bring together administrators and language professionals from across the country to discuss and compare emerging collaborative models of program and course sharing that can offer expanded learning opportunities to students, as well as promote new paths to institutional viability and sustainability for a wide range of programs. The symposium will be keynoted by Cristle Collins Judd, Senior Program Officer for Higher Education and Scholarship at the Mellon Foundation and Michael Geisler, President of Manhattanville College. Although the symposium will focus primarily on collaborative models for the teaching of language, it will also showcase other projects and initiatives that emphasize multi-institutional partnerships in other disciplinary areas. In every case, the presentations will discuss the full range of administrative, pedagogical, and technological factors that shape each particular environment, as there are specific benefits and challenges that must be considered in order to select an appropriate model for a given context.
