I would like to share with the list a current job opening in UNC
Charlotte's Language Resource Center for a Computer Support Technician.

UNCC Computing Support Technician II for the Language Resource Center

 

Essential job duties:  Maintains and manages the Language Resource
Center (LRC) technical environment including the LRC lab/classroom and
the faculty development lab. Evaluates language technology hardware and
software, as well as multilingual and multimedia enhancements to
standard desktop configurations. Maintains and upgrades the LRC
databases used for recordkeeping and circulation of materials. Maintains
and updates the LRC web page. Keeps weekly records of lab
maintenance/repairs, as well as lab inventory.   

 

Other responsibilities:  Provides evening and weekend oversight of the
LRC functions, as well as, technical support to the LRC's users.
Provides support for the creation of multimedia projects by faculty.
Supervises student employees during evening and weekend hours. Develops
written instructions on how to use the LRC equipment and its resources.
May be asked to lead training sessions for faculty.   

 

Preferred experience:  Must be able to work evening and weekend hours.
Knowledge of MS Office, Windows and MAC platforms is highly preferred.
Experience in computer lab administration, including imaging
technologies and developing application objects in Novell is also
preferred. Database knowledge such as MySQL, PhP, Apache is desirable.
