Louise:

We used to do it a lot but retired the equipment some years ago.  The
system to videocopy film is called a Film Chain.  There is probably a
university close to you that still has one.  Our equipment was with our AV
division.  I'm also sure there are film houses reachable on the web that
can convert for you.  Changing format assumes getting copyright
permission.....

A faculty member at our institution has asked me if it would be possible
for copy 16mm film onto video tape, or possible even to have the older film
digitized. We do not have the means to handle 16mm at our facility. Any
suggestion?
