Arabic and Hebrew in office for the mac is not really supported. This is a known problem by Microsoft and their official stance is that they will never fix the issue because it is such a small portion of the office for mac user base.

If there is an issue with copy and paste functionality this is usually done by the OS and not the program. I would suggest the user invest in a clipboard history program like iClip or CopyLess which will remember many iterations of copied text for later retrieval.

If they want to move to Word on the PC then they will have to set the footnote to a language to other than english. This process differs depending on which version you are running. Do a google search about how to format the footer language.
