Edwige,

Here are a few of the different avenues we are pursuing with mobile devices at LARC at San Diego State University:

1)  Digital Talking Books using the Daisy interface that work on iPods.  Sentences of the the text are highlighted while the recorded human voice speaks the text.  We use Dolphin Publisher to create the texts and then play them on the InDaisy app.
2)  BYKI flashcards (Transparent Language).  There are currently two mobile apps for Android and iPhones:  through the online registration that an institution can purchase, there is an activation code for the free BYKI app that will then play any lists that have been assigned to the class.  The second app costs around $8.00 and will play any list that has been marked as a favorite at the general Listcentral site.
3) LARC has developed an app to assist with writing Pashtu on an iPad.  It will capture the character and let the person know how successfully they drew it; it provides three sample words containing the character in different positions and also pronounces the character itself.  This app is available for free at the iTunes app store (Pashtu Practice).
