Subject: Announcement for SLA faculty position with specialization in technology

A colleague asked me to disseminate the following announcement for a SLA faculty technology position with specialization in technology:

The Department of Modern Languages and Classics invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Second Language Acquisition (SLA) with a specialization in technology in SLA, beginning August 2016. The applicant should have additional expertise in at least one of the languages taught in the department and have native or near-native competency in that language. Requirements include: a Ph.D. or equivalent in Second Language Acquisition, Applied Linguistics, or related field, with a particular focus on the use of technology in SLA. The successful candidate will have expertise in technology-enhanced language pedagogy, as well as experience with technology-enhanced curriculum development, materials, and assessments.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses and advise MA and PhD students. In addition, he or she is expected to serve as a liaison to guide the further development of the departmental Language Resource Center and expand current technological initiatives through regular workshops for faculty and graduate students on recent tools and approaches related to the use of technology in the foreign language classroom.
Candidates for this position must visit the University of Alabama website at http://facultyjobs.ua.edu to initiate an application and upload materials. The online application requires the following two documents: a letter of application describing relevant teaching experience, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and research interests/agenda/publications; and a curriculum vitae. Three letters of recommendation should be sent directly to the chair of the search committee, Dr. William Worden, at
[log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>. Review of applications will begin December 15, 2015, and continue until the position is filled. We expect to conduct preliminary conversations with select applicants via telephone or video-conference and final interviews on campus.
