Dear World Language Instructor,

The National Foreign Language Resource Center <http://nflrc.hawaii.edu/>
(NFLRC) in collaboration with the North Carolina Virtual Public School
<http://www.ncvps.org/> (NCVPS) is offering a professional development (PD)
series titled “Materials Development for Online Language Courses” for
online language instructors nationwide. The purpose of this series is to
introduce instructors to principles and best practices for designing or
adapting materials for online language classes. The series consists of five
sessions covering three main topics:

   -

Adapting Existing Materials for Online Language Instruction
   -

Scaffolding to Facilitate Comprehension and Production
   -

Multimodal Approaches in Online Materials Development: Balancing
Language Skills and Facilitating Differentiated Instruction

Sessions take place every Wednesday from 7:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. (Eastern
Daylight Time) starting September 28 (the series runs September 28-October
26, 2015). Participants who successfully complete the series by attending
webinar sessions and completing associated reflective tasks will earn a
digital badge from NFLRC and may be eligible to earn a Continuing Education
Unit (CEU) towards maintaining their professional qualifications. (Teachers
from NCVPS are automatically eligible; other educators will need to put
NFLRC in contact with the awarding supervisor.)

Please note that this year’s “Materials Development for Online Language
Courses” series is distinct from last year’s series on “Designing
Interaction for Online Language Learning,” which is archived online
<https://sites.google.com/a/hawaii.edu/designing-interaction-for-online-language-learning/schedule-1>.

To participate in this professional development series, please complete the
registration form on our webpage: http://nflrc.hawaii.edu/events/view/91/

Best regards,

NFLRC Curriculum Design Team
