I agree that turning lectures into video and calling it a flipped classroom really isn't addressing best practices in learning languages. When I think of the flipped classroom in a WL context, I think of mini segments that are rich in examples, kind of like a 5-10 min TED talk that would prepare students for further learning and synthesis. They don't have to be dry and boring long lectures unless they are made that way.

As Kevin mentioned, the idea of taking those difficult structures and flipping those, serve more as an assistant for students who need clear explanations at their own pace and would free up class time to practice. A 5-10 min explanation with examples followed by opportunities to practice, perhaps in the scaffolded style of TED Ed would be the direction to go for languages. TED Ed offers scaffolded question sequences so students go beyond rote practice and hit some levels of synthesis.
