Could it be a browser setting? In Safari Preferences, for example, there is a tab called “AutoFill”, and a checkbox to allow/prevent the filling of “Other forms”. This is enabled by default, I believe.
In Firefox, I can’t find an equivalent setting, but I do see auto-fill happening on some pages that I visit.
