>Subject: college & university students' use of foreign language labs
>Date: Thu, 27 Mar 2003 16:11:50 -0500
Hello,
I'm a graduate student looking for some sources that discuss the issue of
language lab use, specifically computer language lab use, at the adult or
college level.
I'm curious as to what factors are related to students' use of these
resources. Are they underused? If so, has research been done to
investigate why they are underused?
Do most teachers use them as instructional delivery devices (following an
information processing model) with tutorial or drill-and-practice software,
or as tools facillitating more collaborative language learning activities,
perhaps in communicative or networked learning tasks (a more constructivist
or socio-cognitive model)?
I've found surveys of K-12 use that delve into questions such as these, but
been unable to find any survey of post-secondary educators and their use of
computer labs, or computers, in language learning.
Any sources on these or related issues will be greatly appreciated!
Regards,
