Re: Mini projector
At last, I'm finished with my microprojector comparison pages. Just in
time to help you with your holiday shopping, or maybe your spring semester
shopping.

Bear in mind that since we made our purchase, Optoma released a new VGA
capable Pico.

Here at Duke we're doing a pilot program with five different models of
microprojectors. What do you want to project? A laptop or an iPod/iPhone?
Because different ones handle that very differently. I haven't been able
to thoroughly get to know these five yet, but in my initial testing,
without consulting the documentation too much so as to approach them more
like a user will, the tiniest ones (Pico and Nextar) aren't connectable to
anything but an iPod/iPhone. The 3M is tiny AND comes with a VGA
connector. The Dell and Samsung are not nearly as micro but still a lot
smaller than your average projector and give great quality images and are
VGA ready.
These are the prices I found when I was looking into them - may not be
what we actually spent.
Nextar Z10 Micro Projector
$186.99 (buy.com)
3M MPRO110 Micro Professional Projector
$294.95 (bhphoto.com)
Optoma Technology PK-101 Pico Pocket Projector
$294.95 (bhphoto.com)
Dell M109S On-the-Go Projector
$449.00 (dell.com)
Samsung P400 DLP Lumen Pocket Ultraportable Projector
$559.95 (amazon.com)
I'm working on a nice write-up for our blog and can share that once it's
done. It'll have side-by-side pictures and video so you can see how they
compare. I can tell you the Nextar isn't very impressive to me at all. The
Pico is amazing especially for its size, but no good with VGA (unless
there's something I haven't figured out yet, which is entirely possible).
