I haven't used them in a lab setting yet, but a friend has one on his
desk and I like it a lot in this context.
If you are using these to replace another desktop system and already
have the peripherals I could understand, but if they are replacing
imacs you will still have to buy monitors, keyboards and mouses...it is
likely to end up costing as much as an emac.
So much for cost
Once you add a monitor (which you probably don't want to stack on top
of the mac mini), keyboard and mouse, you are almost using the same
amount of space as you might with an emac. So you end up with a system
that uses nearly as much room, but keeps you awake at night wondering
if someone will slip a computer in his/her backpack.
So much for space
Further, the mac Mini can't be configured with a superdrive and adding
memory, changing drives or upgrading anything is a fairly big mess
requiring the use of a putty knife

You knew this question would come...
Has anybody tried or considered using the new Mac mini computers in a
lab environment? I've got some smallish workstations where the old G3
iMacs barely fit, and the new iMacs seem a little too pricey.
Advantages I see with Mac minis:
-Cost
-Size
-Mac OS
Disadvantages I see:
-Size (security nightmare)
-No audio input, but USB
Please help me see better.
