>Subject: new DVD standard
------------------
Only Toshiba is not in on the agreement for a new DVD standard. 9
huge players, Including Thompson Multimedia, Pioneer, Samsung, LG
Electronics, Hitachi, Philips, Sony, Shizuo, Takashino are banking on
a blue laser development called "blue ray disc", which can rueetntly
take 13 hours of recorded video, with a promise of later developments
including 50 hours on two sides. No specific date yet, but the
Spring is a general target.
I have only seen the story in "Les Echos".
