MacSpeech Dictate now uses the Dragon speech recognition engine, under
license. I have it, and it works OK, about on par with the PC version.
I don't use either one much, and as another posting mentioned,
occasional use decreases the accuracy and the usefulness of these
products.
I have read many reviews, and the claims, assertions, results and
recommendations are all over the map. Based on my experiences, I would
be hesitant to use this kind of speech recognition program in a class
situation. It is likely that different students with similar skill
levels would have widely varying results. I would expect to lose too
much time and class focus dealing with the technology.
