Hi Ed:
By being at a state school, I have no leeway whatsoever.  Lab assistants get 
what all other work-study employees are paid -- $5.50/hr. with no raises.  
Only computer lab assistants are paid $6.00/hr. and that is because the funds 
come from the students' technology fees.
