Hi Bob,

You need to get a copy of Adobe Acrobat Professional (the full version, it's not just the Reader that we all have for free).
Check with your tech people, maybe they have a school site license or agreement with Adobe to get it very reasonably.

Then you can "save as" and choose from a list of formats, including MS Word.   It doesn't always turn out perfectly, but it's usually a good start.
