The Division of Languages and Letters at Walsh University is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure track position as an Assistant Professor of Spanish with a Specialization in Spanish for Healthcare beginning August 15, 2014.

Responsibilities: In both semesters of each academic year, the instructor will teach a full load of academic classes (12 hours, four classes at three hours each), and responsibilities will include institutional service, advising, and demonstrating scholarly excellence through a focused research agenda, especially in Pedagogy and/or Spanish for the Professions.
Requirements: The position requires that candidates have their Ph.D. in Spanish by the time of appointment, and that they have demonstrated teaching excellence in higher education. Candidates must also have a Master's degree in Public Health or a related field (such as Translation or Interpreting with a medical emphasis), or be able to demonstrate prowess with Spanish in a healthcare setting.
Candidates must demonstrate ability to teach and create courses in one or more of the following content areas: Spanish for Healthcare, Business Spanish, and Translation and Interpreting, as well as all proficiency levels of Spanish. The ideal candidate will also have one or more of the following: 1) Experience and/or interest in program administration 2) Proven effective use of current technologies in language courses 3) Service learning experience 4) Native-like fluency in Spanish and English 5) Willingness to participate, organize, and lead in-state service trips and international study programs.
