The Teaching, Learning and Technology Center at Seton Hall University is
seeking candidates to fill a vacant Instructional Design position on the
South Orange campus.
An Instructional Designer works with the Associate Director of
Instructional Design and Training to support faculty in the use of
educational technology to enrich the teaching and learning environment.
He/she acts as a project lead for the design, development and
implementation of large scale projects including Curriculum Development
Initiatives (CDIs) and Faculty Innovation Grants. The instructional
designer also serves as a liaison to various departments at the University
and supports technology integration into the curriculum. Responsibilities
also include numerous faculty development initiatives throughout the
academic year as well as day-to-day faculty support.
Applicants must possess an understanding of and willingness to support the
Seton Hall University Catholic mission. A Masters Degree in Instructional
Design/Technology or relevant field is required along with 1-3 years of
instructional design experience creating online learning environments.
Experience supporting a course management system such as Blackboard
including testing, implementation and administrative support is a plus.
Senior Instructional Designer

The Senior Instructional Designer reports to the Associate Director of
Instructional Design and Training. He/she acts as a project manager for
the design, development and implementation of large scale projects
including Curriculum Development Initiatives (CDIs). The Senior
Instructional Designer will also take an active role in planning,
organizing and executing faculty development programs which includes the
coordination of other staff members as well as necessary logistical
planning of events. Additional faculty support responsibilities include
providing consultation to faculty in specific departments on the effective
use of instructional technology. He/she will also support the
Instructional Design team by promoting active collaboration among all team
members.
Applicants must possess an understanding of and willingness to support the
Seton Hall University Catholic mission. A Masters Degree in Instructional
Design/Technology or relevant field is required plus 3-5 years experience.
Applicants must possess experience in developing online course materials
and multimedia projects and a desire to support faculty development and
outreach initiatives. The successful candidate will have project
management and leadership skills. Experience supporting a course

Digital Media Specialist

The Primary purpose of this position is to provide professional video
production and support for university faculty and administration for
special events, grants, online courses, research and special projects.
Duties also include management and mentoring of student workers. The
Digital Media Specialist will provide all aspects of video production;
including but not limited to:
Coordination of production timelines with faculty, administrators and
student workers for all video productions. Set up and strike of all
lighting, camera and audio equipment for video shoots. Direction of
faculty, administrators and students during video recording if required.
Capture of video footage and editing of special effects, titles and
graphics into final video edit. Performs all aspects of in-house
duplication, authoring of DVDs, creation of DVD master in preparation for
outsourcing for DVD duplication. Encoding of video for web streaming.
Maintenance of archives of all raw video footage.
Applicants must possess an understanding of and willingness to support the
Seton Hall University Catholic mission. BS or BA degree required in Film,
Broadcasting, Video Production, or related major (e.g., Communications,
Graphic Arts, Theatre) with experience working with video acquisition,
editing and distribution. Demonstrated understanding of all aspects of the
production process (e. g, lighting, audio, etc), and a thorough
understanding of MAC and PC computer operating systems, video editing,
video codecs, composition, encoding and DVD authoring software, computer
networking, webcasting and the internet. The successful candidate will
have excellent inter-personal, verbal and written skill and be able to
work under minimum supervision as well as part of a professional
technology support team committed to a common goal. Experience with Flash
development, QuickTime or Real Media Streaming, or basic animation skills
(including 3-D animation) desirable.
DIRECTOR LANGUAGE LAB
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director is responsible for day to day operation,
facilities and equipment management of the University$E2Aos state-of-the-art
language laboratory. The selected candidate will have knowledge of foreign
language teaching methodologies and will promote pedagological uses of
resources to enhance classroom teaching and to assist faculty in the
integration of technology into the curriculum. Additionally, the candidate
will coordinate professional development activities for language
instructors. The director will supervise and train student workers,
perform maintenance and repair as required on equipment, select, catalogue
and maintain an inventory of materials and information on external
resources and outreach materials, and work collaboratively with the
Teaching and Learning Technology Center (TLTC) to implement new technology
in the classroom.
QUALIFICATIONS: A successful candidate will have a good understanding of
the use of technology in language education and be familiar with the
Blackboard Learning System, its functionality and capabilities, and how it
can be used to enhance language education. Experience in foreign language
teaching, preferably in a College/University setting is desirable. Fluency
in one foreign language, preferably Spanish or French, is required. MA in
a related field required.
