Bio:

Biography: Dr. Jerry Goldstein is a Staff Scientist at the Southwest
Research Institute, and an Adjoint Professor of Physics at the
University of Texas San Antonio. Goldstein got his Ph.D at Dartmouth
College, where he studied the theory of cavity resonances of the Earth’s
magnetosphere, under the guidance of Mary Hudson. At the Southwest
Research Institute (since 2003), Dr. Goldstein specializes in the
dynamics of inner magnetospheres using global imaging observations from
missions such as IMAGE and TWINS, complemented by theory and simulation.
Dr. Goldstein is the Science Operations Center lead (2003-present) for
the TWINS mission. He is a Fellow of the AGU and received the James B.
Macelwane medal “for significant contributions to the geophysical
sciences by a young scientist of outstanding ability” in 2006. He has
served on multiple NASA and NSF review panels including the
Solar-Wind-Magnetosphere interaction panel for the Decadal Survey and as
Associate Editor of the Journal of Geophysical Research, Space Physics.
Dr. Goldstein is author or co-author of ~100 published papers, with over

Sarah Pendergrass, PhD
Dr. Sarah Pendergrass is an Assistant Professor in the Biomedical and
Translational Informatics Program of Geisinger Health System. Dr.
Pendergrass is a Genetic Bioinformatician and a nationally recognized
expert in Phenome-Wide Association Studies (PheWAS), an approach
investigating the association between genetic variation and wide range
of phenotypic variables. As part of the MyCode Community Health
Initiative, the Population Architecture using Genomics and Epidemiology (PAGE)
network and the Electronic Medical Records and Genomics (eMERGE)
consortia, and the Aids Clincal Trials Group (ACTG) she has published
over ten papers on methods and applications for PheWAS. She also has
expertise in the development of bioinformatics tools for rare variant
analysis (BioBin) and for data visualization (PhenoGram, PhenoGram-Genie,
Synthesis-View, and PheWAS-View). Through her PhD she has expertise in
gene-expression analyses and bioinformatics, with projects leveraging
the complexity of gene-expression data for biomarker and biological
discovery for the disease Systemic Sclerosis. Her masters work in
Biomedical Engineering, and undergraduate degree in Physics, have
provided her with additional technical and analytical expertise for
complex data-driven projects.

Shinichiro Fuse, PhD
