ATTENTION GRADUATE STUDENTS! DEADLINE APPROACHING!

Apply to attend the F31 grant writer’s retreat, where you will prepare a
competitive grant application in a supportive environment.

Dartmouth Grant GPS and the Biomedical Libraries are pleased to host a
writer’s retreat for graduate students preparing an F31 grant
application.

This program comprises a two-day retreat and a series of writing
sessions, for graduate students in the process of preparing an F31 grant
proposal. The retreat will provide access to writing support, research
assistance, and a quiet space to focus on writing. Students will have
extensive time for individual writing, and will have access to
one-on-one support from research librarians and a writing specialist.

In addition, participants will receive:
Individual and group feedback on their in-process grant application
Advice on increasing likelihood of funding
Strategies related to grant application preparation

Dates: The retreat will be held January 25 (8:00am- 5:15pm) and January
26(9:00am- 5:00pm), and supplemented with three one-day, two- to
six-hour sessions being held February 9, February 23, and March 9.

Why commit five days? Preparing a grant application takes more time than
you might anticipate. The format of this retreat and subsequent sessions
is based on feedback received from participants at the five previous
writer’s retreats. At the end of every previous retreat, researchers
have requested subsequent sessions to continue their momentum and to
continue meeting with peers to give and receive feedback. The three
subsequent sessions will mostly provide protected writing time and the
opportunity to peer feedback (something most researchers have found to
be extremely valuable).

Application Deadline: December 11, 2017

amongst graduate students and postdocs, DCAL has established a Learning
Community for Future Faculty (LCFF). The focus of this group is to share
the rewards and challenges of college teaching, while digging a bit
deeper into best practices and techniques for teaching.
