Get Ready to Sign-up to Present a Poster at the Dartmouth Graduate
Student Poster Session

The poster session is scheduled for Tuesday, April 11, 5-7:30 pm in
Alumni Hall. Presenters must be able to attend the full session.

The link to sign-up will be sent out on Monday, March 20 @ 9 am on the
Graduate Studies Listserv.

(Since there are limited spaces, now is the time to check with your
advisor to see if s/he would like you to present. FYI… in the past,
advisors have asked me why their students are not presenting.)

The poster session, scheduled for the Tuesday, April 11, 5-7:30 pm in
Alumni Hall is being organized as part of Graduate Student Appreciation
Week and will display posters by Dartmouth graduate students. The poster
session is to display to other graduate students/postdocs, undergraduate
students, faculty, and administrators the research and scholarly
activity currently underway at Dartmouth.

Prizes of $200 will be awarded for the top three posters.

Posters will be judged on clarity of visual presentation, as well as on
how well the poster presenter can talk (briefly, 3 minutes!) about his/her
work in terms understandable by a non-specialist (though the poster
itself may be highly technical). In addition, only one presenter per
poster.

**** Poster Size****
We encourage you to use the Graduate Studies Logo on your posters.
FYI...
Your poster should be no larger than 3 feet wide by 4 feet long. If for
some reason your poster is larger, then you will be responsible for
making sure it hangs on the allotted space.

Please note:
Only posters will be allowed for the presentation of your work i.e. that
means no use of computers or other technical equipment. Additionally,
only one person can present each poster.

Dartmouth Graduate Student Council Hosts Inaugural Three Minute Thesis
Competition:

Graduate students are becoming more aware of the importance of
effectively explaining the impact of their work to a general audience.
Whether it is in an "elevator pitch" situation or a short answer to "tell
me about you research" during a job interview, describing one's research
swiftly but clearly is key for a successful career. In an effort to
practice explaining research swiftly, the GSC will be organizing a three
minute thesis competition event on Thursday May 18 2017, from 5pm-7pm.
Graduate students that want to compete need to fill out an application,
found on the link below. Furthermore, to be eligible to apply you need
to be able to present your thesis research using lay language in three
minutes and you must be graduating in June. If you have any question
please contact Academic Chair: Juana Nantez- [log in to unmask]
