Whenever I get sporadic or puzzling results like this on a CALCULATION field, I usually go into the definition of the calculation and make sure that the point of origin is indeed the table I want. It's at the very tip-top of the "Specify Calculation" box, labelled "Evaluate this calculation from the context of: [drop-down menu]".
