Hi everyone,

Winter may sadly be months away, but it's never too early to start getting excited about skiing! We'll try to do an info session later in term, but until then, here's some info about the club for all you newcomers and anyone else who needs a refresher:

Practices: We ski at Oak Hill (5 minutes from campus, we bus people over), usually 3 times during the week. We've got everyone from experienced racers to people who have never been out on skis before, so practices can be anything from getting a good workout in to learning how to ski from club members with more experience. We try to mix up skate and classic days.

Racing: We participate in 3-4 races against other college club teams in the ECSC throughout the winter on weekends. Race weekends usually have both skate and classic races, usually around 7.5 km each. If you think you might be interested, please let me know so that I can get registration started and running smoothly, and keep in mind all are welcome, regardless of prior levels of racing experience!

Fall training: We haven't really done this before, but if people are interested in getting together for a roller ski/hike/run/whatever else they're interested in, they should blitz the listserv ([log in to unmask])(not the club blitz account) to let people know and to set up plans. I'm off this term so I won't be able to help out much here, but it would be awesome if people want to do this!

Leaders: We can always use more leaders in the club! If you're interested in leading practices this fall or winter, you'll need to do some DOC training (Risk Management and Group Dynamics, as well as being van certified). They're all pretty quick and painless, and all other DOC clubs will require these from their leaders so it's a good to do.

I think that's all for now, and sorry for the long email. Let me know if you've got any questions about anything else!
