Hi Folks,
I'm offering a free workshop this Friday morning on basic ice axe and self-arrest skills for winter hiking and climbing. If you do any hiking on steep, snow-covered terrain, this is an essential skill to learn and practice regularly.
Date and Time: Friday, January 9 from 8:00 am until Noon
Location: Meet in the Robinson Lobby at 8:00 am to get outfitted with ice axes (and boots if needed); then we'll drive up to the Skiway for the workshop and practice
Equipment:
* Ice axe (provided)
* Warm winter boots; stiff sole preferred (provided if needed)
* Gaiters (helpful if you have them)
* Warm winter clothing, including hat and gloves/mittens (it's cold out there this week!)
* Wind/rain/snow pants (for sliding)
* Day pack with extra clothes, water bottle, etc.
Please send me an email or call 6-2356 to sign up. Participation limited to the number of van/bus seats available.
Cheers!
Dan
