Hello-

Here are three announcements from DCAL:

1-DCAL Faculty Workshops: Building Inclusive Classrooms

What can you do in your classes to fully engage all of your students? What are the best ways to handle controversial issues in your classes? What do “diversity” and “inclusivity” really mean in the context of the Dartmouth classroom? In this interactive workshop, faculty will learn concrete pedagogical strategies, course design and evidence-based assessment methods demonstrated to promote inclusion in the learning and teaching process. Teaching expert and master facilitator Dr. Mathew Ouellett, Associate Provost and Director of the Wayne State University Office for Teaching and Learning, will lead the sessions. Reception to follow workshop.

2-Experiential Learning Seed Grant
In an effort to expand and enhance experiential learning across the institution, DCAL coordinates resources to engage Dartmouth students, faculty, co-curricular educators, and community partners in the design and delivery of experiential learning opportunities.

3-Call for Proposals for Gateway Course Redesign Initiative
DCAL invites faculty in the Arts & Sciences to submit proposals for the Gateway Course Redesign Initiative<https://dcal.dartmouth.edu/initiatives/gateway-initiative>   The goal of the Gateway Initiative is to enhance individualized learning and improve educational outcomes for students by providing resources and support for faculty to redesign foundational and larger-enrollment undergraduate courses.

Faculty will receive a one-time stipend to recognize the time and energy invested into course redesign efforts. Resources provided for Gateway Courses include graduate and/or undergraduate teaching assistants, organized outside speakers and trips, funded class activities and materials, purchased hardware and software, and funded travel for conferences or events related to the course.

Proposals due Friday, April 7 by 5:00 p.m.
