Free online workshop of interest to faculty:
Jose Bowen, author of a book about flipping the classroom (Teaching Naked), will be facilitating a free Wiley Learning Institute showcase workshop. He's done workshops about the technological aspects of flipping a class, and now he's doing one on how to use the classroom time more effectively.

Coming up this week at DCAL:
New Faculty Luncheon, 12:30pm - 2:00pm, Wednesday, February 26, 2014
Focused on helping new faculty jump start their teaching program, these lunch time sessions will address topics on which faculty have concerns.  This week’s session will focus on handling difficult conversations in the classroom.   Gabrielle Lucke from the Office of Institutional Diversity and Equity will be with us to guide our discussion.  We will discuss the kinds of comments that may trigger reactions from either you or your students, topics that may be challenging to talk about, and some strategies to help you and your students engage in respectful dialogue across differences.
