Hello BorrowDirect Colleagues,
As some of you may already know from the 8/18/17 BorrowDirect Policy Group Call, OCLC Relais proposes to replace our current patron-facing BorrowDirect catalog with a system called "Discovery 3.0," and also to replace our current discovery web service(s) with a tool called "Mercury." OCLC Relais believes that these changes will provide faster search results, a more customizable interface, and allow for greater platform extensibility and ability to add in new Relais customers without slowing system performance. They have not given a firm date for this transition, saying only that it will happen "sometime in Winter."
Many of us, myself included, have many, many questions and concerns about this proposed change. Clare MacKeigan (OCLC Relais, Operations Director) and Katie Birch (OCLC, Executive Director, Resource Sharing) have agreed to give a presentation to the BorrowDirect partnership about these proposed changes and to respond to our questions and concerns.
