Greetings all,
Sorry for the delay in announcing a date for the IviesPlus Discovery Day at MIT – finagling the location took longer than anticipated.
The date will be: Monday, July 25th
We know that summer can be a challenging time with vacations, etc. so please let us know ASAP if you think this date will be unworkable for you or your colleagues. This conference can’t happen without your participation!
We anticipate (similar to last year at Yale) offering an optional dinner outing on Sunday (and possibly a campus tour on Sunday afternoon). Monday would start with breakfast/registration at 8-9am and the day would end ~4-5pm.
We’ll have more information about registration, hotels, etc. by next week. In the meanwhile, if you have any thoughts on potential programming for the day, please send along your feedback to Melissa’s email below – thanks to those of you who already have.
In the meanwhile, let me know if you have any other questions. Looking forward to seeing many of you in July!

Subject: [Ivies_discovery] agenda planning for Ivies Plus Discovery Day @ MIT
Greetings fellow Ivies Plus discovery-ites.
We here at the MIT Libraries are beginning to work out the agenda for Ivies Plus Discovery Day 2016, which we will be enthusiastically hosting (date still TBD). Jenn and Angela set up a great agenda for last year’s event at Yale and we want to shape a program that is equally engaging.
You may recall that Jenn and Anglea conducted a survey after last year’s event to gauge people’s interest in another Discovery Day and how the format might be shaped. A recurring theme was that some portion of the day (probably the afternoon) be separated into topical tracks, so that issues could be delved into a bit more deeply within smaller groups. We’d like your feedback on what these tracks should be. Many topics of interest were suggested, but some of the highlights were:
· Connecting users to content (fulfillment)
· Pursue more collaboration between Ivies Plus partners
· Strategies for influencing administrators on importance of discovery as an ongoing task, not a project
· Information, best practices, and checklist for Google Analytics
· Integration of discovery records with Google search
These give us a starting point for how we might form tracks of interest, but we want your feedback on whether there are other topics you’d like to focus on. Let us know your hopes for what you’ll get out of this day.
