Telling My Story:
* Voices Behind Social Walls*

Everyone has a story -

Many people don’t have the opportunity to share.

TELLING MY STORY is a non-profit organization that works with communities in prisons together with Dartmouth students to provide a platform for people to express their stories by creating an original theater performance based on the lives of the inmates.

Dance, drumming, theater, creative writing, and visual arts are the media used to self-empower participants to tell their personal stories and to listen to the stories of others. In this way storytelling is used to transcend social divisions by creating a common and shared experience for all participants involved.

Come listen to 8 panelists share their experiences over a light dinner!
..................................................................

Who? 3 former inmates, 1 former inmate mother, 1 prison administrator, 1 Dartmouth Professors, 2 Dartmouth students – all who have partaken in Telling My Story.

What? Light Dinner/Panel/Discussion - delicious food, brief introduction to Telling My Story, a sharing of the experience, and a post-panel discussion.

When? Monday, April 23rd at 7 pm (TODAY!)

Where? Brace Commons (East Wheelock Cluster)

Why? To spread awareness about Telling My Story, the prison system, and the power of the arts. To collaborate. To learn. To experience.
