Hi everyone!

DHE's first meeting of the term will be this Tuesday at 8pm in Zaleski Auditorium (Maclean MB01). Two new projects groups are starting a Hydroponics projects and a locally-sourced, artisan-crafted Moroccan motor scooter project. Come hear about them both, get involved in design conversations and prototyping, and hear about a travel trip to Morocco this summer!

Hope to see you there!

P.S. A little about each project:

The Hydroponics project will develop a system that “composts” biomass in an incredibly reduced amount of time, and use this to power hydroponic farming. The research and groundwork has been done, and now the next step is to begin prototyping, identifying a launch region, and testing the prototype and process this spring!

The Mahjouba Motor Scooter project will work in collaboration with last term's Montgomery Fellow Eric Van Hove, in exploring the relationship between craft and mass produced parts. Working with a team of over 50 Moroccan craftsmen, he has built a prototype motorbike. He spent winter term at Dartmouth developing this prototype with the help of faculty and students. The final product will be a mid-priced motorbike that African artisans can reproduce using local materials. The project will involve design brainstorming, CAD modeling and 3D printing parts for the prototype. A group will then be traveling to Morocco in the summer to help finalize the product alongside the Moroccan craftsmen and Eric Van Hove's team!

Blitz [log in to unmask] with any questions or if you can't make it but would like to hear more about a project as it progresses!
