Dear Members of the Dartmouth Community,

As women of Dartmouth, and as the elected leaders of Dartmouth's Panhellenic sororities, we are deeply disturbed by the recent targeted violence and explicit encouragement of violent acts toward a member of our community on [log in to unmask] In response, we want to make clear to campus that anyone who takes advantage of others or encourages any form of violence is never welcome in our houses, at our events, or in our community.

It is imperative that as members of the Dartmouth community we hold ourselves--as well as our peers, friends and institutions--accountable to the highest set of standards.

Though it is tempting to think of this most recent incident as the isolated actions of a single individual, we are all painfully aware that this is neither the first nor last time these events will occur at Dartmouth. While student leadership must publicly condemn these acts each and every time they occur, it ultimately falls to the daily leadership of every Dartmouth student to make clear that there is no space for gendered violence or prejudice of any sort.

As we celebrate the Dartmouth experience during Winter Carnival, we ask you to take time to critically consider ways in which you can help make our home a safer place: whether as a leader, friend, or bystander, each of us has the agency to prevent future harm.

For those who have remained on the sidelines of these conversations, the time to engage is now.

Signed:
