Please join us for a panel discussion featuring Kevin Kamps, from Beyond Nuclear,
Kenneth S. Yalowitz, Hannah Bobyk '10.
4:30 pm Tuesday, April 26, 2011
Haldeman 041 and the Russo Gallery in Haldeman at Dartmouth College

A reception will follow to mark the opening of the photographic work of award-winning
social documentary photographer Gabriela Bulisova.  Gabi travelled and worked
in the radioactively contaminated zones of the Chernobyl region in Ukraine and
Belarus over the course of several years. Twenty five of her images will be on
exhibit for this, the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear catastrophe.

April 26th will mark the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster.

"Chernobyl" represents the worst industrial accident in human history.  The
accident in the Ukraine commenced on April 26, 1986, but is still un-folding and
it will continue to indefinitely into the future.

Professor Yalowitz retired from the U.S. Department of State in 2001 after 36
years as career diplomat and member of the Senior Foreign Service. He served twice
as a U.S. ambassador: to the Republic of Belarus from 1994-1997; and to Georgia
from 1998-2001.

Kevin Kamps is the Radioactive Waste Watchdog at Beyond Nuclear.  He has been
following closely the tragic events at Fukushima Daiichi, and his expert views
have been featured on CNBC and CNN.  Kevin will offer perspectives on Three
Mile Island, Chernobyl, and Fukushima.

Farm Sanctuary: Changing Hearts and Minds about Animals and Food
A lecture by Gene Baur, President and Co-Founder of Farm Sanctuary
5:45pm on Wednesday April 27th
Rockefeller Center Room 003
Followed by a Book Signing and Catered Vegan Dinner

Please join us in welcoming Gene Baur, President and Co-Founder of Farm Sanctuary,
to Dartmouth as part of his spring lecture series. In the course of this lecture,
Mr. Baur will discuss his reasons for founding Farm Sanctuary and the ways in
which animal agriculture has transformed since the organization's beginnings in
1986. He will address the current realities of the industrial food system, including
the use of antibiotics and hormones and environmental consequences such as climate
change and air and water pollution. Through his lecture and the following Q&A
session, audience members can engage in discussions about where our food comes
from and explore the difference an individual can make on a global scale through
his or her food choices.

The lecture will be followed by a catered vegan dinner at 7pm when Mr. Baur will
be signing his national best-selling book "Farm Sanctuary: Changing Hearts and
Minds about Animals and
Food."
