Tea & Talk: FASHION ENTREPRENEURSHIP w/ Mellisa Mazingi, Zimbabwe

Thursday, April 9th, 3pm-4pm | DEN Innovation Center, 4 Currier Street | To register:http://denteaandtalk.eventbrite.com<http://denteaandtalk.eventbrite.com/>

Come meet and talk with Mellisa Mazingi<http://dickey.dartmouth.edu/people/mellisa-mazingi>, a self-taught fashion entrepreneur who is changing the face of fashion in Southern Africa. She is building on-line platforms for local designers to sell their products; training young designers in basic business skills; and creating pop-up design shops featuring up and coming designers. It's drawing major attention to Zimbabwean and other Southern African designers and gaining support from international foundations and entrepreneurial networks. Mazingi spent the summer of 2014 at Dartmouth for a six-week Business & Entrepreneurship Institute as one of President Obama's YALI Mandela Washington Fellows. She is excited to return to campus during E-ship Week and would love to connect with students and others interested in fashion, creative industries, and business in Africa. Mazingi will be joined by Bilquis Dawodu '16 who just returned from an international internship working with zedLabel and Mellisa's PR firm Runway Productions.
