V-FEB: Over the past 20 years, V-February, an expansion of the global V-Day Campaign, has evolved as Dartmouth's annual student-led campaign to promote gender equity and end gender- and power-based violence.

In 2019, as part of V-Feb we are promoting: BODY NEUTRALITY

What is BODY NEUTRALITY?
Deemphasizes the importance of appearance
Opposes body obsession
Promotes self-acceptance

body neutrality does not equal body positivity:

The body positive movement has excluded many communities, including non-binary folks, those living with disabilities, individuals whose bodies are politicized by society, and those who associate their bodies with trauma.

Body neutrality does not require you to love your body.

Neutrality can be a position of self-acceptance.

What does Body Neutrality have to do with V-FEBRUARY,
 gender equity, and gender-based violence?

Gender-based norms can cause mental and physical harm such as insecurity, self-loathing,

disordered eating, compulsive exercise, and more.

Binary norms and beauty standards pressure non-binary individuals to conform to male/female standards.

Neutrality enables people to express their identity without the pressure of gender-based norms.

Join V-FEB in combating harmful norms and creating a culture of Body Neutrality at Dartmouth!

Stay tuned for more information about Body Neutrality. We will be sending weekly emails about this topic throughout the entire month of V-FEBRUARY!
