DO YOU WANT TO BE LIKE PAUL, WHOSE LAST NAME MEANS "A BONY BUMP THAT FORMS ON THE JOINT AT THE BASE OF THE BIG TOE?" (Google)

DO YOU WISH THAT THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE HAD FEWER HOMOPHONES?

DO YOU WANT TO LEARN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PAUL BUNION AND PAUL BUNYAN?

DO YOU, INSTEAD OF WANTING A BONY BUMP ON YOUR TOE, WANT TO HAVE BURLY MOUNDS OF MUSCLE ALL OVER YOUR BODY?*

If you answered yes to the first question, then good for you (but it is a little bit odd)! If you answered yes to the second question, come join a group of people who really don't know anything about linguistics, but will make uneducated claims about the English language nonetheless!** If you answered yes to the latter two questions, then come out and practice with the Dartmouth Woodsmen Team*** (absolutely no experience necessary):

Wednesday 9/27 from 2:15 PM to 4:15 PM (and possibly longer (still with a ride back at 4:15))

Thursday 9/28 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM

Friday 9/29 from 1 PM to 3 PM (and possibly longer (still with a ride back at 3))

Sunday 8/1 from 10 AM to 12 PM

Meet behind Robo for a ride. Bring water (not for the extremely large vegetables, but for you), closed toe shoes, and clothes you don't mind getting dirty.

See you soon!

*I know "BURLY MOUNDS OF MUSCLE" is not really the most appealing phrase in the world, but I was working with a theme, and, besides, it's unlikely that Woodsmen's alone will give you mounds of muscle. But it is a step in that direction!

**We do have a ling major or two who occasionally joins us, hopefully they're at practice this week.

***More information about the team: We are a competitive lumberjacking team. We compete a couple of times a term with other schools from the area in events modeled after traditional lumberjack activities (felling trees, cutting them up, burning them, etc.). We hold totally open practices a few times a week, where you (yes, you) can learn and practice events for an upcoming meet or just for your own enjoyment (or best, both!!!). There is no minimum nor maximum commitment, we love having beginners and are always looking for more dedicated competitors. It's a good workout and a great way to get outside. Blitz me ([log in to unmask]) with any questions!
