APPLY FOR FUNDING FOR COOL SUSTAINABILITY PROJECT

Every year, the DOC's Environmental Studies Division funds student projects that encourage sustainability at Dartmouth and reduce Dartmouth's environmental impact. The DOC supports students in enjoying the out-of-doors, and it encourages them to give back to it in this way. Funds will be awarded to well-planned, feasible projects addressing relevant sustainability issues​. If you're interested in applying, read the attached guidelines and complete the attached applications by midnight on Friday, February 13th! MARK SHAPIRO ON HIS BOOK CARBON SHOCK, 6:30 PM, Mayer Room, Howe Library, Hanover

 In Mark Shapiro's latest book Carbon Shock: A Tale of Risk and Calculus on the Front Lines of the Disrupted Global Economy, he explores the intersection politics, the environment and economics. Co-sponsored by the Sierra Club's Upper Valley Group and Chelsea Green Publishing.



DARTMOUTH HUMANITARIAN ENGINEERING (DHE), 8pm, Thayer Room MB01

DHE runs a wide range of technical projects in developing nations, including small-scale hydropower, improved cookstoves, and an initiative aimed at improving access to clean water. They strive to encourage development, improve health, and reduce environmental impact through sustainable, affordable, socially-conscious solutions for communities in need. Do you have an awesome sustainability idea you want to "pitch"? The Pitch is a chance for Dartmouth students, faculty and staff to pitch innovative ideas.  20 teams have 2 minutes to give their pitch! Winner gets funding and development support! DARTMOUTH ANIMAL WELFARE GROUP (DAWG), 7:30pm, Collis 219

The Dartmouth Animal Welfare Group raises awareness about issues of animal ethics on campus, increases students' interactions with animals, and supports national movements that also promote animal welfare. DAWG is promoting Meatless Mondays this term, for the environment, for the animals, for your health!

Interested in learning more about how to positively impact the investment portfolio of the College? Want to learn more about the national fossil fuel divestment movement that has taken hold in college campuses across the country? Check out their weekly meeting. All are welcome!

GETTING SERIOUS ABOUT INEQUALITY, 4:30-6:00 pm, Haldeman 41

Kevin Leicht, PhD, Professor of Sociology will speak about Sociology is serious about studying inequality.  But are we really? There is a considerable amount of evidence that the answer is no.  This presentation will recommend some ways to correct this and asks what a program dedicated to understanding inequality would look like. Co-sponsored by the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center for Public Policy and Social Sciences.



ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION ORGANIZATION (ECO), 7pm, Collis 219

NATURE WALK 2-4 pm, Dartmouth Organic Farm

This week we will be walking through the forest to learn about sustainable forestry! Join us as we identify, learn and even harvest a tree on the farm! Boots, multiple layers of pants, all your jackets, gloves. Join us for a warm fire and tea in the barn after! Blitz Sam Kernan with questions!



HEATING PLANT TOUR, 3-4 pm
