Dear Persons of Dartmouth,

Yesterday evening in the library, I ran into my friend Michael P. '14 who
wondered aloud a bit about the Dartmouth Organic Farm.

"I'm just waiting for the Organic Farm to invite us over...when can we go?
Are we allowed to be part of it, or do you have be part of the
In-The-Knowers?"
me: "It's already your farm, Michael. You just have to go to it, take care
of it, whenever you want!"

This totally blew Michael's mind. Like, actually, he couldn't maintain eye
contact because the insides of his brain were just blown all over the place.

So people don't know that a farm, just 3 miles north of campus (past the
Dr. Seuss School of Medicine), belongs to them. Now you know. You can go
whenever you want and just be there. Most hours of the M-F week (and even
some during the weekend), Scott Stokoe, the farm manager, is there. He'll
set you up with things to do, things to learn. I'd never farmed or gardened
or touched soil before in my life, and it just doesn't matter. It's our
farm.

Often there are rides that leave and return behind Robinson Hall for
afternoon or morning "workdays." If you want to be on a blitzlist for these
things, blitz "thefarm" and you shall be added in a matter of moments.
There is also the free and speedy Advance Transit for those who prefer to
go on their own from campus to Kendal and walk just a bit:
http://www.advancetransit.com/brownroute.htm. And there's always running,
walking, skipping, swimming, canoeing, whatever your heart desires.

Kindly, and in want to connect with the ground beneath my feet,
Farzeen
