Hi Everyone!
In honor of Halloween, tonight at Theology on Tap we will be discussing supernatural elements both helpful and harmful- spirits and saints- that are active this time of year. Halloween is a night of magic and mayhem where ghosts, ghouls, and witches walk the earth. However, the very next day is All Saints' Day, which venerates the holy powers of the Saints. How can we understand the juxtaposition of these celebrations showcasing two very different types of supernatural elements?
Discussion Questions may Include:
- Why do we have this juxtaposition of both positive and negative supernatural elements for Halloween/ All Saints' Day? How do we/ can we treat these two holidays differently?
- Can we use our understanding of Halloween to tell us something about how we approach faith/ "the supernatural" in our faith? What about All Saints' Day?
- Do these holidays bear relevance to our daily lives, or are they the relic of a bygone era?
Join us tonight at 9 pm at the Canoe Club for a magical discussion over a round of drinks and free garlic fries! We hope to see you there!
Peace,
Marielle
