Paris Is Burning is a 1990 American documentary film<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Documentary_film> directed by Jennie Livingston<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jennie_Livingston>. Filmed in the mid-to-late 1980s, it chronicles the ball culture<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ball_culture> of New York City<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_City> and the African-American<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African-American>, Latino<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latino>, gay<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay>, and transgender<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transgender> communities involved in it. Many members of the ball culture community consider Paris Is Burning to be an invaluable documentary of the end of the "Golden Age" of New York City drag balls, as well as a thoughtful exploration of race, class, gender, and sexuality in America.
