Corinna Snyder and Vedran Bodkovsky, two members of the New York-based folk ensemble Odglasi, have been playing and researching traditional Macedonian music for many years, working in the field, in the archives, and with master musicians and orchestras in both Macedonia and the Diaspora. They visited the courses Music and Gender as well as Global Sounds to discuss how class, ethnicity, gender, and politics shaped the development of distinct musical genres in Macedonian communities. They also played a concert at the Hop Garage.

The lunch on Friday, April 24, at 12:30 pm in the Triangle House can be whatever you want it to be: an informal gathering, an academic discussion, time to relax... There will be pizza, soda, juice, friends, and interesting people. Let's get together, and talk about music, performance, and everything else. RSVP here: http://whoozin.com/JHQ-J66-RJAT.

*******This concert series is co-sponsored by the Rockapellas, Dartmouth Spectra, International Student Association, Women of Color Collective, the Department of Music, African and African American Studies, Asian-American Studies, and the Leslie Center for the Humanities. Look out for our next event: DJ Ripley will be performing on May 1st, 9-12 pm in the Hop Garage.*******??
