Hi Everyone!

In the spirit of the big debate happening tonight, our topic for Theology on Tap this week is the interaction between religion and "American Ideology" in today's society. While not necessarily unique to America, principles like individualism, meritocracy, and capitalism dominate much of our cultural thought. In addition to these more political values, religions, with their own complex value systems, have played a large part in the shaping of the country. Tonight we will try to examine how contemporary "American Ideology" compares and contrasts with that of various religions.

Discussion questions may include:

-What value systems could we define as "American Ideology"?

- How do these ideologies interact with religious ideologies in contemporary American society?

- Are these interactions constructive or destructive?

- How might this intermingling of ideologies be different in other countries?

Join us tonight at 9pm at the Canoe Club for discussion over a round of free drinks and garlic fries! We hope to see you there!

Peace,

Marielle
