Dear Recipient,

Our question is this: is education about learning or sorting?

Class was great for the first few weeks. But now you’re all behind. The curve will determine the fate of many. But are we not above this reduction to our relation to averageness? Before you take to the streets tonight to shed the weary weight of the world, come help us find the answers to these questions three:

  1. Are examinations a friend or a foe to the project of learning?
  2. Do distributive requirements open minds or waste our time?
  3. Are we even here to learn?

If you're like us, you have a lot of answers you can't help but share. As best you can, hold onto your ideas until this afternoon, Friday February 2nd at 4:45pm. Bring them to One Wheelock and share them with us* until 5:30pm, or until one or all of us is overcome by our mortal finitude. Whichever comes first. Hopefully 5:30pm will come first.

We look forward to seeing some of you today.

Warm Regards,

The Senders

*by “us,” we mean: the divine unity of dartmouth coffee club and dartmouth philosophy club.
