Jan Tarjan '74 has been the Executive Director of Dismas House of Vermont since the fall of 2011. Dismas House is a supportive community for former prisoners transitioning from incarceration. Through the creation of community in the house, consisting of residents, students and community volunteers, Dismas enables those formerly incarcerated to return to society in a supportive and positive environment. Dismas is about to open a new house in Hartford to join other houses in Burlington and Rutland VT. Jan joined Dimas after many years as associate Dean, and as a Senior Program Officer, at the Tucker Foundation. At the Tucker Foundation, Jan directed student community service outreach programs locally, nationally and internationally. Jan is a member of the Dartmouth class of 1974 and was one of the first women to attend and graduate from Dartmouth. She is a longtime resident of Lyme, N.H. In her spare time she enjoys alpine skiing, hiking, reading, time with her family and visiting her neighbors.

Dartmouth students will have an opportunity to volunteer at the new Dismas House in Hartford, as soon as spring term!  Find out more information at tomorrow's lunch.
