Ramadan is close! Ramadan is a holy month for Muslims, a month of fasting and reflection, this year being observed from around June 17 to July 17 (dates may vary slightly depending on the region).

As in years past, Muslim students on campus during Ramadan and observing the fast will have special access to '53 Commons (FoCo) for the pre-dawn meal (suhur) and any time before that after the dining hall closes.   We remain grateful to the College for their ongoing commitment to facilitating our religious needs.

SINCE RAMADAN WILL BE STARTING DURING INTERIM THIS YEAR, ANY STUDENTS WHO NEED ACCOMMODATIONS THEN NEED TO REPLY TO THE AL-NUR ACCOUNT IMMEDIATELY TO LET US KNOW WHO WILL NEED ACCOMODATIONS. DDS WILL ONLY PROVIDE INTERIM ACCOMDATIONS IF THERE IS ENOUGH DEMAND!

Here is a summary provided by Dartmouth Dining Services (DDS) to acquaint you with the set-up and logistics.  Please read it carefully:

-          Prepared food is left in a designated reach-in cooler in Big Greens (All others are locked).

Program duration:
*              starting sundown on June 17th
*              ending sunrise on July 17th

Eligibility: active meal plan holders who pre-register only.
*              students without active meal plans and members of the general community are not official participants.  They will not be given card access.  It is upon enrolled students to take responsibility for any members of the community they bring as guests.

Enrollment Procedures: [again] Students wishing to participate should fill out this form http://goo.gl/forms/NhNkcKMU94 as soon as possible.
*              The Card Office will verify eligibility
*              Kristina Fletcher will add door access to the ID cards for the front door from 10 pm to 6 am
*              Upon enrollment, the students will receive an email outlining the procedures and responsibilities
o             They should meet with Robert for a quick orientation
o             They are expected to leave the place reasonably tidy
o             They are responsible for guests

Meal Accounting:  There will be a clipboard with a brightly colored sign-in sheet left at the kiosk every night.  Participants are asked to sign in with their name, the date and the number of meals.  It is entirely on the honor system.
*              On Mondays the list will be shared with Heidi.
*              The Card Office will manually subtract meal swipes from participants accounts
o             unless otherwise marked, meal swipes will be deducted first
o             if no meal swipes are available, $7.75 in DBA will be deducted (door price for late night and breakfast)
