Free Public Movie Screening: "Beasts of the Southern Wild"
TONIGHT 7:00 PM to 9:30PM in the Loew Theater, The Black Family Visual Arts Center
Join us in kicking off the symposium with a special screening of this 2012
allegorical film recounting one girl’s struggles with poverty in the face of
natural disaster and human catastrophe:

The Lewin Fellowship supports graduates who have proven leadership in the Dartmouth community and who are pursuing significant acts of citizenship and service to others. Promote a Love of Reading!
Chances are, part of the reason you are at Dartmouth is because you loved reading and learning at an early age. Want to help promote this love of reading in children? To do this, we need to solve a couple challenges for many children: 1) access to books and 2) having someone who can read to them (especially before they can read themselves!) and show them how exciting and fun it can be.
Interested in helping out? We are forming a team to establish a two-pronged effort on this front: regular book drives and reading/literacy events where children can come and read and be read to by volunteers (and get free books for coming to the event!).

Want to help high schoolers stay on track and navigate college admissions?
Then....volunteer to be an e-mentor to high school students in Boston!
College for Every Student (CFES), a national non-profit organization dedicated to helping underserved students prepare for, gain access to, and succeed in college, is seeking e-mentors to work with high school boys from East Boston High School. Training (through instructional video!!) would be provided, and all that you would need to do is be there for someone two times a month (through Skype, iChat, FaceTime) for 45 minutes to offer advice and help. This would be a great opportunity to work with students from under-resourced backgrounds thrive in high school and college!!
