Hi all,
*TODAY*, the fifth year PhD student Ian Adelstein will be giving a talk on
non-euclidean geometry titled "Shortest Paths on a Sphere." He will
introduce the topological notion of a sphere, and then discuss curvature
and what makes some spheres round. He will then address shortest paths on
a sphere, great circles, and then construct some spheres that do and do not
admit such paths.
The talk will be accessible to all undergraduate students and will be held
in *Kemeny 105 at 7pm * and *food will be provided. S*o be sure to stop on
by the listen to this interesting topic. See you there!
Sincerely,
Dartmouth Math Society Executivies
