Sunday Night Chapel continues tonight in Rollins Chapel from 5-5:30pm. The service follows the style and tradition of the Taize Community in France, meaning that it will be a wonderful way to experience inner stillness and peace in the midst of so much outer activity (see http://www.taize.fr/en).
Taiz?-style worship centers on singing, prayer, readings from the Bible, and periods of silence. Simple songs are sung that are easily learned and quite beautiful. It is a more meditative style of worship and tends to use lots of candles and sometimes icons. One of the goals of this style of worship (as well as of the Taiz? Community in France) is to bring all Christians together. During the summer, tens of thousands of youth from all over the world make week-long pilgrimages to worship at Taiz?. (see http://www.taize.fr/en)
Last week's service was beautiful with the organ and piano riffing off each other as we all sang. Each week, a student musician will play their instrument along with our organist, Evan Griffith '15, to create beautiful music which makes this style of worship what it is. So, if you haven't yet tried Chapel, join us tonight.
