The topic: Banning ethnic studies in Arizona

In Arizona, politicians and schools are coming under fire for eliminating "ethnic studies" from its public school systems and now trying to extend the ban to public universities, which features large immigrant and Latino populations. (Which means a college student cannot major in Chicano Studies or similar subjects) Is Arizona's education system becoming intentionally "whitewashed"? Why do you think a school system would ban studying an ethnic group? Are there any benefits?
