Deloitte Strategy & Operations Consulting is teaming up with Women in Business to coordinate a panel of female consultants to answer your questions on what it’s really like in the consulting world, how a liberal arts background positions you for success beyond graduation, and how you can be prepared going into recruiting this fall!

Deloitte Strategy & Operations WIB Consulting Panelists


Yelena Blackwell | Senior Manager in Commercial Strategy & Operations; Chief of Staff, M&A Consultative Services

Yelena joined Deloitte’s Strategy & Operations practice in the Boston office upon graduating Dartmouth in 2002.  At Deloitte, she focused in the Healthcare industry, gaining cross-functional experience at a wide variety of clients.
Yelena earned her full-time MBA from Kellogg School of Management through Deloitte’s Graduate School Assistance Program (GSAP), and then transferred to the Chicago office to grow her network and try her hand in the Consumer & Industrial Products industry.
Most recently, Yelena has been serving in strategic leadership roles internally at Deloitte.  She is currently the Chief of Staff for the M&A Consultative Services practice, working with firm leadership to execute strategic initiatives and manage day-to-day operations of the practice.
At Dartmouth, she majored in Economics and minored in Public Policy.  Among her favorite experiences were serving as campus tour guide and participating in the Germany LSA and the Oxford Economics Exchange program.

Jen Tutak | Manager in Commercial Strategy & Operations; State & Local Ops

[Tutak_Jen]<http://hgsli.com/portfolio/jen-tutak/tutak_jen/>After studying English with a French minor at Dartmouth College, Jen Tutak graduated with a Master in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School while concurrently pursuing her Master of Business Administration in a dual degree program at the MIT Sloan School of Management. She also holds a Master of Education degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and her long-term interest lies at the intersection of business, government, and education. Still living in Boston, Jen is now a Manager for Deloitte Consulting in the public sector/higher education group of the Strategy & Operations practice. Jen previously worked for the University of Hawai’i in Honolulu, as a teacher in France, and for Citigroup in New York. An avid traveler, Jen has visited 35 countries including North Korea, Cuba, New Zealand, Australia, China, India, Columbia, Thailand…While at Dartmouth, Jen was president of her senior class, president of the Green Key Honor Society, intern to Dartmouth’s president, and a member of Palaeopitus, among many other clubs and pursuits that she loved while in Hanover. As a fun fact, Jen founded a class ring program while she was senior class president, which resulted in a new design incorporating an imprint of Baker Tower on the side of the ring.

Emily Franklin | Manager in Federal Strategy & Operations; Finance

Emily is a Manager in the strategy consulting practice at Deloitte Consulting in Washington DC [FranklinEmily_professional] . At Deloitte  Consulting, Emily primarily serves public sector clients within the Department of Justice and Department of Defense around finance service delivery, operational process improvement, and appropriated funds management. She joined Deloitte Consulting after starting her career as a Navy Officer based out of San Diego CA.  She earned her MBA from the University of Maryland and she majored in Economics through her undergraduate studies at Vanderbilt University. Emily is a lead for Deloitte’s Federal Business Analyst recruiting program.


Lauren Morrell | Consultant in Commercial Strategy & Operations; Strategy

[cid:image022.png@01CFD15D.5BA1AE40]Lauren is a Consultant in the Strategy & Operations practice, focused primarily on Life Sciences and Social Impact Strategy.  She recently completed a fellowship with the Strategy & Operations Innovation Center, where she worked along with firm leadership to develop Deloitte's new Social Impact Strategy Service Line, which launched in April 2014.  In the office, she runs the NYC Business Analyst Recruiting and Retention Programs.  Prior to joining the firm, she graduated from Dartmouth in 2011 with a major in Neuroscience. While at Dartmouth, she led the DREAM community mentoring program and the Women in Science Project.   Lauren currently lives in Manhattan, and, in her spare time, likes to run in distance races, play beach volleyball, and seek out the city’s best (and 2nd best, and 3rd best…) pizza spots.

Kelsey Heinen | Business Analyst in Commercial Strategy & Operations; General Management

[Heinen_Kelsey__Oct 2013 (2)]Kelsey Heinen is a Dartmouth ’13 who majored in History and minored in Spanish.  She first joined Deloitte as a Summer Scholar (intern) in 2012 and returned full time after graduation. In her first year, Kelsey has had the opportunity to work on projects for automotive, health care, and talent organizations. She is passionate about community service, and is active in several of Deloitte’s community service initiatives in Chicago. She has particularly enjoyed working on WIN (Women’s Initiative) community service projects.  While at Dartmouth, Kelsey lead Tucker’s ESL Tutoring program, and she continues to teach ESL courses at a local non-profit on the weekends. In her other free time, Kelsey can be found doing yoga, cooking, and planning trips she may or may not ever take.
