 Ice Chimes Celebration
Friday, February 8th
Life Science Center
4:00 p.m.

What are the Ice Chimes?
A sculpture installation designed by Keith Moskow '83 and Robert Linn that blends science, architechture, music, and engineering! The Ice Chimes is a 20-foot tall weather-responsive musical sculpture that creates sounds from collected ice and snow. The sculpture is constructed of heavy timbers and a perforated canopy on that catches precipitation. Heating coils then melt the collected snow and freezing rain. This liquid drips onto suspended metal rods, forming icicles. The rods sway in the wind, clinking and chiming, until the icicles break off and fall into the metal collection bucket below, which amplifies the sound

Hot chocolate and refreshments will be served!

The celebration will be held, snow or shine!
